Inside the walled, Old City of Jerusalem, past an Arab market
place, stands the old Monastery of the Catholic Dominican Fathers. It is also
known as the Monastery of St. Stephen as it is believed to be the site of

renowned Ecole Biblique, host to possibly the most complete biblical library in
the world.

leads 43 feet (13 meters) underground to a burial chapel. Some of the legendary
figures of biblical scholarship were buried here such as Felix M. Abel, founder
of the modern geographical study of the Holy Land.

the final resting place of the Kings of Judah, the ancestors of Jesus Christ.

¿¹¼öÀÇ ½Ã´ë·Î »ý°¢µÇ´Â ÈξÀ ¿À·¡µÈ īŸÄÞÀÌ ÀÖ´Ù. However, behind this modern burial crypt lies a much older
catacomb, one that was thought to date back to the time of Jesus.

Indeed, throughout the ages, not much importance was attached
to this chamber. But a recent archaeological survey has revealed that the burial
cave actually dates back to the time of the First Temple of Jerusalem built by
King Solomon.
°Ô´Ù°¡ ÀϺΠÇÐÀÚµéÀº ÀÌ Ä«Å¸ÄÞÀÌ
¼º°æ¿¡¼ ¸Å¿ì Áß¿äÇÑ ¿ªÇÒÀ» Çß°í, ¶Ç ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ Á¶»óµéÀÎ À¯´Ù
¿ÕÁ¶ÀÇ ÃÖÁ¾¾È½ÄóÀÏ °ÍÀ¸·Î ÇöÀç ¹Ï°í ÀÖ´Ù. Moreover, some scholars now believe that this catacomb may well
be the final resting place of a dynasty which played a very significant roll in
the Bible and where the royal ancestors of Jesus Christ.
¹«´ý ³»ºÎ¿¡¼ »ÀµéÀÌ ¹ß°ßµÇ¾ú´Ù. ±×°Íµé °¡¿îµ¥
¾î¶² °ÍµéÀº ¿¬´ë°¡ ¼Ö·Î¸ó ¿ÕÀÇ ¼ºÀüÀÇ ¶§ÀÇ °ÍÀ¸·Î ¹àÇôÁ® ÀÌ ¹«´ýÀÇ
»ÀµéÀÌ À¯´Ù ¿ÕµéÀÇ °ÍµéÀÏ °ÍÀ̸®¶ó. Inside the tomb, bones were found. Some of them date to the time
of King Solomon's Temple and may well be those of the Kings of Judah.
